Flooded London

Ever watched those blockbuster Hollywood  films, with amazing special effects such as “The Day after Tomorrow”, “Twister” and wonder just how far away from the truth they really are? Well if you pop along to the Medcalf Gallery in London, you’ll get the same sensation. “Flooded London”, featured by Squint/Opera, is an exhibition of fantastical images which explore life in London in a not too distant future.
Set 80 years into the future, it takes a light hearted look at the city and its people after the flood waters have risen. The horrific, catastrophic reaction to the sea reclaiming the land has obviously been overcome, and we are faced with images of Londoners who have truly adapted to their new aquatic life style. The chaotic, frenetic London life as we know it has been transformed into a peaceful watery world. It’s quite an optimist view of life in the future, and one that definitely merits a visit.
